Ballard Mensua Architecture reimagined this mid-century split-level home for long-time clients looking to downsize with style and purpose. Formerly a rental property, the home was transformed into a highly functional, well-crafted residence—all within the original footprint.
The renovation thoughtfully maximized each level, enhancing usability and comfort without the need for costly additions. Careful attention was given to proportion, detail, and material selection to ensure the home felt curated rather than compromised. Inspired by the Not So Big House principles of Sarah Susanka, the design emphasizes quality over quantity, proving that downsizing can be both practical and inspiring.
This project demonstrates how smaller-scale renovations can yield exceptional results through smart design, thoughtful planning, and craftsmanship.
