In collaboration with interior designer Amanda Provost, Ballard Mensua Architecture transformed this outdated Washington, DC row house into a refined, modern residence—while preserving its historic charm. Located just steps from the National Cathedral, the 5-bedroom, 3.5-bath home spans 2,194 square feet on a 4,000 square-foot lot.
The renovation focused on livability and flow, beginning with a full kitchen redesign that opened the main floor, introduced high ceilings, and highlighted restored hardwood flooring. On the second level, a new master suite was created, complete with a custom walk-in closet and spa-inspired bathroom. An additional en-suite bath was renovated using marble finishes and elevated design details.
With high-end appliances, luxury materials, and a layout tailored to modern living, the result is a bright, elegant row home that marries contemporary comfort with classic DC architecture.
