Ballard + Mensua Architecture was featured in Homes & Gardens in the article “What Designers Think Will Be Big in Kitchen Design in the Next 10 Years.”

Principal architect Seth Ballard shared his perspective on the innovative features that are reshaping how kitchens function and feel:

  • Work Station Sinks
“The Galley Sink—work station sink—is going to become more and more popular,” Ballard explained. These extra-large sinks, often 6 feet or longer, include cutting board and colander inserts, dual faucets, and space for prepping and even serving food directly from the sink. “It is a game changer,” he noted.
  • Steam Ovens
Ballard also sees steam ovens becoming a standard appliance in luxury kitchens, thanks in part to their versatility. “The obvious benefit is vegetables, but the surprise is warming up leftover pizza—it tastes better than the original,” he shared.
  • More Colorful Kitchens
Stylistically, Ballard reported a significant move away from all-white kitchens. “Sixty percent of our kitchens now feature stronger color,” he said, though about 40% of clients still prefer classic white.

This feature reflects Ballard + Mensua’s commitment to designing kitchens that combine innovative functionality with timeless style.*
